After a hiatus of several years, the Jefferson park and recreation department is once again offering a Tae Kwon Do class. The class, for ages 6 and older, will be offered Sundays beginning Nov. 2 at the Greene County Community Center.
Tae Kwon Do (TKD) is an opportunity for participants to learn discipline, respect, confidence and the basic self-defense principles of martial arts. The class will be led by Levi Horsley, a first degree black belt in TKD, a black belt in Bando Ryu Karate and an assistant instructor for Muy Thai and Jeet Kune Do.
The class will meet four Sundays in November (Nov. 2, 9, 23 & 30). Class times are currently set for 3:30 to 4:30 pm and 4:30 to 5:30 pm. The times may be altered slightly depending on interest. Beginning in January 2015, Horsley will offer classes that will allow participants to begin earning belts.
